Grub

Once upon a time there was a little grub. He was a shy little creature and stayed very quiet whenever he could but he was amazed at all that he saw.

He watched the birds fly high and swoop down low and marvelled.

He saw the butterflies flutter by with brightly coloured wings that danced in the sunlight and knew he would one day dance like that for a little while.

He gazed at the trees clapping their hands in the wind that blew. He heard them shout for joy and he quietly sang for joy in his heart.

He felt the mountains and hills tremble before the Majesty and he raised his head, then lowered it in reverence.

He gazed at the stars at night and wondered. So many, and so wide and far and bright...and he pondered.

All that he saw and all that he knew told the story. Every creature and every bright and shiny night time thing, and all the mountains and trees and great oceans told the story.

The One who made these things - what a mighty One is he!

The Little Tree

The Little Tree

Once upon a time there was a little tree. It was planted in a pot and set aside to grow. For most of the year the little tree was ignored and moved occasionally, and watered when it looked a bit lacklustre.
The children of the house would play around little tree, and bump and scoot their cars around the pot. The birds would flutter around and look interested but fly off just as quickly. Insects would do their buzz buzz and zoom zoom around little tree and some even stayed a while. Sometimes tree was part of a play or story, but most of the time it stayed quietly in the corner of the yard.
Fine gossamer threads appeared and summer blossoms settles on the branches. A spider laid her eggs in a white silk ball which hung on a dark branch.

The days grew long and hot and the little tree sensed something special was happening. The house children were more excited than usual and were very busy putting pretty shiny balls and long shiny strands on a big tree in the house. At night the big tree in the house had special lights on that twinkled and blinked in pride of place in the big window.

Little tree did not have special lights or strands of gold.   Little tree did not have shiny bells or baubles.

At last the very special day came. The children rushed to find presents and toys beneath the big glittery tree in the house. They were celebrating the birthday of the one who created everything in the yard and in the great wide world.

Little tree was sad that it could not present itself suitably to the creator on this special day.

Then one of the house children came to little tree and sat down very still and quiet. The dew was shining in the sun, hanging on the gossamer threads.
She gazed at the jewels on the branches.
She looked at the blossom tufts.
She saw the paper balls hanging on the far away branch.
The little girl smiled. She saw that little tree was arrayed in simple beauty, fit for a king.

Little tree became Christmas Tree that day and even when it was forgotten in the corner, it always knew it was fit for a king.

Bootle McScootle

 Bootle McScootle

Hey man - how you going?

Boot McScoot come dance along.

Flip - flop trudge in the sand.
Glub glub wear on your hand.
Slippydips in winter are warm,
hide them under the bed in the dorm.
Tippity tap to light up the boards,
the dancing shoes in time with the chords.
Splish splash the gummies are good
for winter and water to wear them we should.
Jandals with candles and nice fur handles
some people even call them their sandals.
Svens on the boat are worn with blue socks,
and crocs in the garden and out on the docks.
Runners and joggers abound all around
go hipping and hopping and pound on the ground.
Spits and spats are great for the movies
galoshes galumping are all meant for hoovies.
But best all by far and cutest to boot
are the five little toes on each tiny foot.

Movember

Tish tash where is my moustache?
Draw one on my face.
Tash toe where is your mo?
Stick it in the right place.

A good game to be played with a pen, face drawn on paper, cut out moustache and glue and especially suitable to be played in Movember.
Even more fun if father allows child to draw on his face :) using sensible pencil.

Berry Smoothie

Berry Smoothie

Berry smoothie's good for me
it fills my heart with glee
I know that it is good for me
for breakfast, lunch or tea.

I start with milk and add some fruit
then moosh it all right up
I make it thick and sweet to suit
and pour it in a cup.

I take a sip and let it slide
...a little, oh so slow
and feel the coolth and goodness go
right down into inside.

My bones are happy, growing strong
it won't be very long
before I'm big and tall and fit
if I drink every bit.
